Panasonic has joined the Jaguar Racing Team in 2016 as the “Official Title Partner” in the frame of a multi-year partnership.
Formula E is a pioneering single-seater championship and the world's first fully-electric motorsport series. With zero emissions and noise levels below those of conventionally fossil fuel-powered racers, the cars can compete on purpose-built street circuits in the heart of major global cities. Formula E’s goals are to raise awareness and accelerate development of electric road cars, reduce global emissions, improve e-mobility and engage younger fans.
Both partners join the same vision: to collaborate, to learn, and to win. Working together at the frontier of technology towards an electric future. Formula E perfectly fits with Panasonic’s global vision of a better life and a better world. Already at the forefront of e-mobility, Panasonic is a supplier to many of the world’s biggest car companies thanks to expertise that includes innovative battery technology, inverters and on-board chargers. In addition, Panasonic’s portfolio also includes highly relevant next-generation technology including connectivity and infotainment. The close work with the racing team and lessons learned on the race track will help to push Panasonic Automotive’s efforts to develop innovative future technologies.
Takeyuki Yamanaka, President of Automotive Systems Europe, commented: “Panasonic is excited to be a part of the Panasonic Jaguar Racing Team. As a supplier to the world’s largest car manufacturers and through our portfolio of electrical automotive components, Panasonic is already a world-leader in e-mobility. We will build on this through Formula E. We are also world-renowned for our infotainment and connectivity expertise, technology which is just as relevant to next-generation mobility. Fast-tracking product development, reducing emissions and being more sustainable is crucial to us and Formula E is a perfect fit. We have no doubt that the series will revolutionize e-mobility – and we want to be the drivers of this change.”
James Barclay, Panasonic Jaguar Racing Team Director said: “We are delighted to partner with a premium brand that has the profile and prestige of Panasonic. It is a world-leading electronics company with a first-class reputation for quality, integrity and innovation. By competing in Formula E and accelerating the development of critical technologies, Jaguar intends to be at the forefront of the electrification of the car industry.”
